Anglesea SLSC Annual Golf Day 2023 (19th& 20th August 2023)
This year saw a significant change in the format of our annual golf day fundraiser with a shift to a Sunday for golf and the spinning wheel raffle being held for the first time at in the John Worrell room at the surf club on the Saturday evening preceding the event. The outcome of this change was a fantastic success overall and will be the new format going forward for the event.
Golf Day
Over 70 golfers took part in this year's event, which took the form of an Ambrose Pairs event. A 9.30 am shot gun start on a drizzly Sunday morning eventually turned into a fine sunny day for all those taking part. A good mix of golfing regulars and veterans mixed with novices and first time participants made for a great fun day for all those took part.
We certainly encourage all members whether you play or not to consider taking part as the day caters to all level's of golfing ability! Thank you to all those who took part. Check out the results / Category Winners below.
The "Chompers BBQ" was again in full flight with the famed burgers this year accompanied by bacon & egg rolls - all went down a treat. Big thanks to those that assisted with the BBQ including chef's MarkGowans, Matt Solly and Scott Tannahill well supported by Matt Taylor with logistics set up/pack up. Next year we could certainly do with some more volunteers with the BBQ to lighten the load.
Ocka's Betting Hole was again a highlight of the day giving golfers a chance to back themselves to land near the pin on the 16th hole. Huge thank you to Daryl "Ocker" Johnson and Geoff "Simba" Inman.
Thank you also to Rob Tennant and Surfcoast Signs for supplying all the signage on the course and at the clubhouse for the spinning wheel night.
Finally huge call out also to those club patrons and donor's who contributed toward the running cost's of the event.
Your generous support is always welcomed and appreciated.
