Do you want a challenge this summer? We are looking for members who are up for a non-competitive challenge...to swim the iconic "Rip" between Point Nepean and Point Lonsdale in late January 2021. Up to twenty members will have the opportunity to cross in supported groups of 5 with similar paced swimmers.
Lead up training and preparations will be managed between Anglesea SLSC and The Rip Swim , with on the day logistics and water safety through The Rip Swim. Feeling the need for a wardrobe refresh of your Anglesea gear - we have set up on Team App to enable this to happen. The club has recently been successful in a grant application with EnergyAustralia. The grant was submitted for the purchase of beach matting to make the beach accessible for those individuals with impaired mobility. The club is working with the relevant authorities to make the club wheelchair and the matting available to the local community and tourists. Thank you to EnergyAustralia for this grant opportunity and subsequent funding.
The 2019/2020 Annual General Meeting was held yesterday on Zoom. Thank you to everyone who attended and especially to Derek Stott, the Director of Administration who did a terrific job as MC. Two of the Board of Directors finished up yesterday Sai Dale and Mike Martin. Sai has been the Director of Surf sports for the last 12 months and done some excellent work as we prepare to reboot the Senior surf sports area of the club. Thank you for your contribution to the club Sai and we look forward to seeing you continue your role as R & R Captain. It is with deep sorrow that we advise that Life Member John Shears, Jimpy to us all, has passed away. He was the last of the clubs founding members, attending the inaugural meeting in 1952. Jimpy served the club in so many ways over the next 68 years and will be remembered as a kind hearted, true gentleman and as a legend in the truest sense His great wish was to live long enough “to have a beer in the new clubhouse” but his health did not allow him the pleasure. Our thoughts and condolences are with Amanda, Jo and Peter. RIP Jimpy.

It could be your chance to get involved!! The Virtual Coolangatta Gold (16-25 October) is a brand-new way to take on the mighty Long and Short Courses of the 'Gold. Participants can complete any part of the Coolangatta Gold they want, wherever they want. The Virtual Coolangatta Gold is Your Gold, Your Way, Your Challenge.
