Starfish Presentations!

A very special event took place on December 29th at the beginning of the Starfish Nippers session when the Starfish and wider Anglesea community gathered to recognise people who are no longer with us. A named surf board was presented to the Starfish program in memory of each individual. Midsumma Pride March!

A reminder for this weekend’s Midsumma Pride March, which takes place this Sunday 2rd February 2020 at 11am. Pride March is always a fun day, where LSV and our members will march as part of the Emergency Management Victoria wave with the other agencies to celebrate inclusion and show our support and celebrate our LGBTIQA+ colleagues, members and community. Lachie, leading the way!

Lachie Eaton is one of our Anglesea Surf Rescue (ASR) patrol captains. He was recently advised he has been selected to attend the Surf Life Saving National Leadership College. The National Leadership College (NLC) is an annual leadership and development program recognising young leaders in Surf Life Saving (SLS) aged between 20 and 30 years. Participants come from a variety of clubs, roles and SLS backgrounds. The NLC provides an exciting opportunity for members within the movement to further develop their leadership skills and continue to positively contribute to the success of SLS. 2020 Doorknock wrap up!

Great news!!! Thanks to everyones efforts and the community generosity our 2020 Doorknock raised just short of $27,500. A reminder 10% of the proceeds will be donated to the Bendigo Bush Fire Relief Appeal. THANK YOU to everyone who got involved both collecting and donating and/or BOTH! Anglesea Surf Life Saving Club is situated on Victoria's Great Ocean Road, with more than 1,500 members and a Restaurant/Bar/Cafe that seats 120 patrons overlooking one of the Surf Coast's most spectacular views. A substantial rebuild scheduled to be completed in July-August 2020 will provide additional opportunity to offer new and expanded food and beverage services in training rooms and spaces capable of accommodating up to 250 people along with a potential kiosk. Champion Junior Lifesaver (CJL) Development Day is a fun filled day of leadership development workshops, exposure to the many opportunities in lifesaving and practical team based SRC scenarios. The day also incorporates the prestigious Mike Martin Champion Junior Lifesaver award, to recognise and celebrate the achievements and commitments of our youth members to their club and local community. Under 13 Life Saving Victoria Development Camp

The U13 Development Camp is a fun filled weekend of challenging camp and lifesaving activities, designed to develop interpersonal skills. Food & Beverage services and tender

In response to member feedback, the redeveloped clubhouse will include a number of new food and beverage services beyond the current restaurant operating in the Ray Marsh Room. Over time, this will include improved bar, kiosk and catering offerings. With this in mind, and given Captain Moonlite’s current contract for restaurant services in the Ray Marsh room has expired, all food and beverage services in the new clubhouse will be tendered. The ASLSC Board has encouraged Captain Moonlite to participate in this process and look forward to receiving their proposal given their contribution to the club since 2016. January Redevelopment Update

PROGRESS Progress has continued at a pace of the past 3 months and the works are still running around 45 days ahead of the original program. FourSq are now expecting to be finished by the end of June 2020. If you haven’t been by recently all three floor slabs have been poured, the roof structure is in place and installation of the mechanical ducting has commenced. Oars up tribute!

A moving ceremony was held at the Anglesea Youth/Senior Carnival on January 5th to recognise the passing of Anglesea Life Member Barry Marsh and the immense contribution he has made to surf lifesaving over the years. The carnival paused as did the carnival luncheon and a beautiful tribute was delivered by fellow Anglesea life member Alex (Ajax) Sutherland. We will never forget the contribution Barry has made to the ASLSC Club!

Family Fun Night & Art Show

The biggest night of the year is happening tomorrow Friday Jan 10th at the Anglesea Football/Netball grounds between 5pm and 9pm with the annual Family Fun Night and Art show hosted by the Anglesea Supporters Group. Come & Try Day - Rowing!

Come & Row Event - all welcome! Anglesea SLSC is holding another ‘Come & Row’ day on Wednesday Jan 8th. 10am Pt Roadknight The objective is to give people an opportunity to experience surf boat rowing and potentially, to eventually compete for Anglesea. Even if you have had no previous involvement with surf boats, this is your opportunity to have a try and have some fun. Nipper Art Show 2020

With colder weather for the next few days - we have the perfect activity for your child! A fantastic tradition of the Nipper program is an art show where Nippers design a tee shirt for the next years program and the honour of being the designer of the 2020 Nipper t-shirt. Nipper art show entries are due by 3pm Jan 10th to the club office - which can be found under Captain Moonlite. You can pick up a template from the Club office or download from here.

Chocolate Lollipop Making!

Thanks to our great friends at the Great Ocean Road Chocolatarie and Ice Creamery we are offering young members (15 & U) the opportunity to participate in special Anglesea Chocolate Lollipop making sessions. We have two Anglesea specific sessions on Monday 13th, 20th from 1pm - 1.30pm. The cost is $8 per individual and it is a fun way to spend some of your day.
