THANK YOU to all the members who have volunteered their time over the last few days. We appreciate your efforts and the club could not exist without your help. You are the backbone, heart beat and arms and legs of the club!! We need more volunteers to assist with the ASLSC carnival which as you are hopefully aware is on this Sunday January 5th. LSV run the carnival but as the host club we need to provide support with set up and pack up. Set up is from 6am Sunday morning and if you can assist please meet at the River mouth end of the beach. We need approximately 10 people. Pack up is from approximately 2.30pm and we need a similar number of people and if you can gather in the same area please
It is with great sadness we inform the membership of the passing of Life Member Barry Marsh. Barry was a much loved member of the club and his contribution over the years has been significant. Our love and thoughts are with the Marsh family. The club received a message from the North Pole last night and it was good news! Santa has been kind enough in his busy schedule to plan a visit to Anglesea Main Beach on Xmas Day at approximately 10am. Well to be honest Mrs Claus controls the diary! Please remember Santa may be a little bit tired after a busy night delivering presents to children all over the world so please be lenient with his arrival time! Are you 15 plus and keen to do your Bronze Medallion? Well here is your chance! Anglesea SLSC will be offering a course starting Sunday December 29th and concluding with assessment day on January 4th! A typical session will be a mix of theory, scenarios and water based activities. Candidates will complete training both at Anglesea Main Beach, Anglesea RSL (Murray Street Anglesea) and the Club Offsite Facility (5 Inverlochy St, Anglesea) Participation requirements - must be a current financial member of Anglesea SLSC - must be at least 15 years old - must have completed a 400m tied swim in less than 9 minutes and have completed a Timed Swim Confirmation form - must register with Life Saving V
Summer yoga is back this summer with club member Sally Wilcox instructing. The only slight change is the location which for this season will be the RSL, 30 Murray Street. The classes will be held every morning from 8 - 9am from December 27th - January 25th. The cost per class is $15 and mats and props are supplied. The inaugural Beach Volleyball President's Cup will be held on Saturday 4th January 2020 from Noon at the river end of Main beach. Get your team of 3-4 players together. The Cup will have two divisions: Open and Under 14’s. To enter, email your team name and captain’s name and contact number to email@example.com by noon Friday 3rd January. It will be a fun afternoon - make sure you get involved!
The hottest event is town over summer is in Anglesea on Sunday December 29th and all members over 18 and social pass holders are invited 6pm - 11.30pm! The Beach party is back for its second year and it will be a fun filled night! - Great food with delicious canapés from Captain Moonlite and a scrumptious spit roast to enjoy thanks to the ever generous MC Herd Meats. - Entertainment from local singer Tristan Ross who plays everything from the classic to modern day hits. - A dance floor so your feet can do the talking. - Drinks at bar prices. This summer the club will be providing social recreational activities for current members and social pass holders. There will be a number of activities some which will be led by various members and others where equipment will be available on the beach. The activities are: Ocean Swimming Group: If you can swim 300-400 metres and enjoy body-surfing (or want to get better), then come along for swim. This is not a coached session and is just a social swim. Swimmers must be aged 14 years or more and be confident in the water. At ASLSC we many examples of people volunteering their time throughout the surf club...patrollers, nipper age group leaders, dolphin coaches, sausage sizzlers at fundraisers, preparing for events, packing up for events....the list goes on and on. Thank you to our VOLUNTEERS - we cannot emphasise how much we appreciate everybody who puts in their time and effort. To everyone who gets involved and helps. No matter how small your contribution it ALL helps! The strategic plan review identified people would like to do more and do not always know how to get involved so we want to make it easier for you. Anglesea Surf Life Saving Club acknowledges the passing of of Pt Lonsdale Life Member Peter (Spiv) Maishman. On behalf of the ASLSC, the Board of Directors extends their sympathies to the Maishman family on their loss. Spiv as he was commonly referred to was - Anglesea's Ski Captain between 1985-1988

- and was instrumental in developing the club's strong ski team during that time. Our thoughts are with his family at this sad time. A service will be held at Star of the Sea Catholic Church, 2 John Doery Drive, Ocean Grove on Tuesday December 17th at 11.00am. RIP Spiv.
Each year the local community and holiday visitors contribute over $30,000 to the clubs operational budget via the doorknock and this year we hope is no different. The success of the doorknock is due to the commitment of those members who collect and this year we are giving you the opportunity to collect at a time that best suits your family between Thursday 2 January and Tuesday 7 January or you can join in the traditional Doorknock Night on Saturday 4 January from 6pm. Our base for the Saturday night Doorknock will be the RSL Hall, 52 Murray Street. Bags picked up at 6pm and returned that night by 9pm! You also have the opportunity to pre-select your area. John Russell is taking on the role as the Club Chaplain. John has been involved with the Starfish program for the past 3-4 years and is keen to get to know everyone and what the club is about. John’s core role will be to offer pastoral care to all members, officials and their extended family of members. In addition he will be available for trauma counselling should the need arise. John is a local Anglesea resident.
