With a redeveloped clubhouse soon to be completed and our recent strategic review identifying many new challenges and opportunities, it is clear that a General Manager role has the potential to significantly improve the clubs’ success in an increasingly complex operating environment and address needs previously identified in past strategic plans. At the recent Anglesea Carnival luncheon in early January the prestigious Surf Sports Hall of Fame was added too with the 2019 Anglesea inductees. Matthew Symington Chair of the Surf Sports Hall of Fame advisory committee spoke of the importance of recognition in any organisation being critical for a successful culture and this being even more important in a volunteer organisation. The Anglesea SLSC Surf Sports Hall of Fame was developed in 2012 in conjunction with the 60th Year celebrations. The inaugural inductees were - Bobby King - Stuart Fox - Shane Edmonds - Abby Lewtas - 1960’s Senior R&R Team and our Legend - John Worrell. The second cohort in 2015 was - Peter Van Miltenburg -
During the peak season an event was held for members to test themselves by completing a course often utilised by individuals wanting to get into life guarding. It was great to see a small group of incredibly motivated individuals attend and complete the course. The course consisted of the following legs: 400m swim 800m run 400m rescue board paddle 800m run The goal is to complete under 25 mins!! Congratulations to Sam Hume who completed the course in the quickest time followed by Ed Speller and Dibs Fitzgerald. Special mention to Jemima Fitzgerald who was the only female participating. All participants completed the course in the allocated time. Well done to everyone and we hope to see this
