Each year Surf Life Saving Australia hosts a National Awards of Excellence to recognise the hard work, selflessness and enthusiasm of volunteers. At this year’s awards, our own Mike Martin, AM was awarded Assessor of the Year. Congratulations Mike! Mike is such a vital part of our Club, having held the role of head assessor with us for years and contributing to the Club in so many ways. SLSA recognised Mike as being "instrumental in strengthening junior progression within assessing, mentoring younger members and creating pathways to support their life saving development". Calling all ocean loving kids!

The first ever national Banana Boat SwimKids Series is coming to Anglesea on 28 December 2018 (as part of Burson Rock 2 Ramp) and it’s set to be an incredible experience for capable young swimmers aged 7-12 years old looking to improve their ocean swimming skills while having a great day at the beach. With three swim distances on offer (100m – 7 & 8 year olds, 200m – 9 & 10 year olds, 300m – 11 & 12 year olds), all under the supervision of the Anglesea Surf Life Saving Club you’ll learn new skills, meet new friends, gain confidence and even leave with a special medal, special silicon swim cap and goody bag! ASLSC No Smoking Policy

Ahead of the patrol season, we remind beach goers that Victorian Law prohibits smoking at all of Victoria’s patrolled beaches, in the areas between the red-and-yellow lifesaving flags and within a 50-metre radius of a red-and-yellow flag. Smoking is also banned within 10 metres (about two car lengths) of any public outdoor sporting venue during an organised under-18s event. The ban also applies to outdoor drinking areas located within 10 metres of an outdoor sporting venue during an organised under-age sporting event or training session. Rock2Ramp Ocean Swim - 28.12.18

Entries are now open for this year’s Burson Rock2Ramp ocean swim at Point Roadknight Beach on Friday 28th December. 1.2km, 2.5km or new Banana Boat SwimKids Series This year we will again be holding the 2.5km swim in the program and this will take place before the 1.2km waves, with a 10am start. There will be no age categories in the 2.5km, but we will continue to separate the field into genders to allow more people to enter. In 2018 we also welcome Banana Boat SwimKids (Surf Coast) which replaces the Kid’s Dash. The Banana Boat SwimKids Series is part of six events held around Australia.
