John Worrell OAM - A Club Legend.
In a moving ceremony yesterday at Main Beach – members gathered with the Worrell family to scatter the ashes of the much loved, John Worrell OAM.
The esteem with which John was held by members past and present was evident as two surf boats rowed out past the break in challenging conditions, one crew from Anglesea SLSC and the other from Point Lonsdale where John had also been very involved.
John’s extended family swam out with the boats and many people gathered on the beach reflecting on the wonderful man John was as stirring Scottish bagpipes played in the background.
We will never forget the legacy that John Worrell has left at the Anglesea Surf Life Saving Club and many members will remember the positive influence he had on their lives.
RIP John – returned to the ocean you loved so much.
