Anglesea Silver Camps
Outcomes will be released by 30th OCTOBER 2017.

Anglesea SLSC Silver Camps are the next step for candidates after being awarded their Bronze Medallion.

In 2017, there are two Silver Camp streams;

  • IRB Camp

  • Surf Camp

IRB Camp

Silver IRB Camp is the introduction to driving IRBs in the surf, building upon existing IRB crew skills. We focus on developing both in and out of water skills, with boat and motor maintenance theory sessions as well as practical driving experience in varying surf conditions throughout the week, including performing rescues using an IRB. These candidates will also complete their Senior First Aid certificate which is a nationally recognised first aid qualification.

Please note; assessment of the IRB Driver Course does not take place on camp. Students are expected to continue to gain experience after camp and can request assessment when they have completed their required hours which have been recorded in a logbook. More information about assessment dates will be provided on camp. In accordance with the IRB Driver Training Standard Policy, candidates must be at least 17 years old on the date of final assessment.

Surf Camp

In a trial program for 2017, we will be offering 10 places for candidates to participate in a week of developing water-based and leadership skills with experienced club members. The candidates will be travelling to various beaches, learning how to tackle different conditions. This camp leads into year-round program that have introduced, known as Salty Dogs, which encourages all members to continue to meet throughout the year to further develop water skills in a fun and social environment. These candidates will also complete their First Aid certificate, which is a nationally recognised first aid qualification.

Selection Criteria

The numbers of participants we can take on our camp is determined by our capacity to ensure quality instruction for all candidates. As our camp is so popular, in 2017 we are introducing a selection process for all camps.
