Courses and Camps
Providing appropriately qualified and experienced trainers, venues and equipment for all of our camps and courses is an ongoing challenge.
For this reason we are looking to conduct courses for smaller numbers of candidates across a the breadth of the season. Our hope is that this will lead to improvements in the quality of training, greater member retention, better use of club assets and stronger relationships between club members.
Ultimately the Club has limited resources and we must always ensure that we use these as effectively as possible and to achieve this the following initiatives are being implemented this season:
Venue: all camps and courses will be based at the Club to reduce costs
Group Size: smaller groups (max 28)
Candidate selection: application based (preference to those showing commitment to Club)
Trainer selection: application based (preference to those showing commitment to Club)
Timing: staggered from September through to April to better utilise resources
Training focus: increased focus on practical and scenario based learning
Applications for Awards and Training opportunities are made via our Courses/Camps Registration Portal (or by clicking the bright green button to the right).
There are limits to the number of candidates that can be allocated to each course / camp and it is critical that candidates complete their application with sufficient detail and on time. Please note for camps where there is a selection criteria and limited places, applications will be reviewed by our Member Development panel against the criteria and applicants will be contacted to confirm successful registration.
Preference will be given to those applicants that can display a commitment to the ASLSC and a desire to do so in the future.
There are a small number of scholarships available to assist some members with the cost of attaining awards. Members who would like to find out more about these are encouraged to contact the club for more information.
