U18 - Active Member

When you turn 17 you can:


  • IRB Drivers certificate

  • Silver Medallion Beach Management (to qualify for training in this award you must have completed 16 hrs of patrol in the preceding season)

  • Gold Medallion – this is the minimum award required for possible employment as a lifeguard

  • Requalification: all awards must be Requalified by 31st December

  • Training Officers Certificate: gain endorsements to train other Advanced Awards (ART, IRBC, SM)


  • Consider joining Anglesea Surf Rescue as a Patrol Captain or Patrol Vice-Captain


  • Water safety at our holiday Nipper Program, Dolphins training, Nipper Carnivals, Rock to Ramp

  • Duty Boats: if you hold a IRBC award then there is the opportunity for you to work as a Duty Boat member at both Junior & Senior Carnivals. This is a fantastic opportunity to learn from expert drivers and crew form elsewhere in the state

Surf Sports:

  • Compete in U/19 events at Senior Carnivals.

  • Take up ski paddling or row a surf boat

  • You are also able to compete in Open age groups in selected events

  • gain basic Officials and Coaching accreditations (see separate sections)

  • U18 Development Camp
    A three night camp for members who are 16-17 yrs old. Participants will have the opportunity to learn, share and network with likeminded lifesavers from across the state. Applications typically need to be submitted by early October with camp taking place in late November. Interested members should discuss there interest with the Director of Member Development.


  • Senior High Performance Squad
    Available to U15+ athletes who have finished in the top three places at the State Championships in an individual event. This exposes participants to the best coaches and athletes in the state.
