Anglesea Surf Life Saving Club provides a program where candidates are trained and assessed in the skills that are expected to be performed as a surf lifesaver. Surf lifesavers must possess a high level of physical fitness and an ability to operate in emergency situations on both land and in water. Therefore, the program will require candidates to partake in a variety of physically strenuous activities in these situations in preparation for the role as a surf lifesaver. The degree of knowledge and skills gained, along with rapidly improved physical fitness during the course, often surprises the candidate.
Candidates are trained by qualified club members during this annual program, ending with an assessment of skills by qualified volunteer Lifesaving Victoria assessors.
The 2019/20 Bronze Medallion Camp is planned to run from Sunday, 15th December to Tuesday, 17th December 2019. More details to follow.
At the completion of this award you will be able to participate in Beach Patrols, help out with Water Safety at Nippers and compete if you desire. New members welcome.
Ideally you have commenced swimming training as, apart from a current Anglesea SLSC membership, the course prerequisite is 400m freestyle pool swim in 9 minutes.
