Port Melb Partnership

Over recent years, the Anglesea SLSC has had several sections using the Port Melbourne LSC as a training venue during the off-season.

Several Surf Coast based clubs have approached Port Melbourne with the view of formalising arrangements for a "sister club" relationship with Port Melbourne considering  this issue at length and felt the benefits of such a relationship were compelling. Accordingly, the Port Melbourne Committee members created a range of evaluation criteria for such a relationship and after considering proposals from Lorne and Anglesea, Anglesea SLSC was selected as our "sister club" and a formal memorandum of understanding signed.

There are several key benefits for Port Melbourne are :

  • Gaining help to patrol our beach during the season, with Anglesea committing to provide a certain number of qualified lifesavers.
  • Gaining assistance to administrative and training expertise.
  • Port Melbourne members can now use the Anglesea club and equipment without charge, subject to full Anglesea members having priority;
  • and Port Melbourne members who wish to compete can now nominate Anglesea as their competition club.

In return, Anglesea members have the following benefits :

  • Use Port Melbourne premises and equipment, subject to Port Melbourne members having priority;
  • Use our clubrooms for meetings or training during the off-season.
